Ja well no fine. Before you start guessing as to what this is all about, let me give you the short and dirty of it all. I am a member of the club and will be giving you an overview as to how I see my fellow club mates at different races, time trials and Wednesday runs during the month. Who am I? That is for you to try and figure out. I must warn you that I will be like Candid Camera, so don't be surprised if you read about your actions, sayings, behaviour (misbehaviour) etc. in the next report. To get us started we can take a look at the month of August. What was significant about August was that we had two ladies races, but the men could take part if they dressed like "drag queens" Well some of the men did take part in the Edgars ladies race, but the numbers dwindled at the Spar ladies race. I would have liked to see more men at the Spar Race as Spar is the biggest sponsor of our own race, but it is too late now. I was surprised to see our green haired "lady" not taking part at the Spar but I can understand that an injury is no fun to enter a race with, numbers required or not. Why did our illustrious leader not take to the road? With his nice smooth legs and a touch of makeup he could have been in for a category prize, not to talk about his but……lets leave it at that. I must say that the route for the Spar is not an easy one, in the heat of the day. I saw some of the runners doing warming up exercises on the middle of the field prior to the start. Somebody should have told them that it was 24+ degrees in the sun. Just sitting in the shade of our tent was warming up enough. I must confess that the ultimate preparation for this race was taken by some of our clubs ladies. Downing a beer 15 minutes before the start was a tactical decision by these ladies. It is a known fact that Amstel Lager is full of vitamin "P". From about the two kilo mark this vitamin "P" start causing a downward pressure below the bellybutton resulting in a faster than normal pace, called the looking for a toilet pace. By the time the runners energised with this vitamin "P" reach the finish their eyes were brimming. Well each runner to her / his way of running and preparing. This was just a short introduction as to the type of snippets that will be forthcoming in the months to follow. I leave you with a saying for the new month " Beauty is but skin deep…. Ugly goes to the bone". So cheers to all the beautiful people out there. Cheers vir eers. The Running Reporter
