Agn League Format

How the Agn league works:      (revised Jan 2013)
  • A handicap calculation is used because of the difference in the number of members at each club.
  • The number of licences bought from Agn and not the number of licences the club has sold is used in the handicap calculation.
  • Also it is the number of licences bought as at the end of the month prior to the league race that is used in the handicap calculation. For example:
League race(s) in Jan 2004 …. No. of  licences bought during 2003.
League race(s) in Feb 2004 …. No. of licences bought as at the end of Jan 2004
League race(s) in Mar 2004 …. No. of licences bought as at the end of Feb 2004
         and so on
  • A minimum number of 35 licences is used for clubs that have bought less than 35 licences.
  • Only Agn registered athletes qualify for league points.
  • The league points table is available upon request. This table allocates points to each athlete who finishes a race. The number of points is dependant on gender, age category, distance and finishing time. A minimum of 1 point is allocated to everyone whose name is on the official set of results.
  • The formula for the handicap calculation is:
The total number of points earned x 200 / number of licences bought from Agn
  • The league has been divided up into 4 divisions. Divisions 1, 2 and 3 each have 20 clubs in them. Div 4 has the remainder.
  • Once the total handicap points have been calculated for each club, a sort is done, listing the clubs from most to least number of handicap points. In Divisions 1, 2 and 3 the clubs with the most handicap points will then each be allocated 20 league points, the next 19 points and so on down. In Div 4 the club with the most handicap points will be allocated 40 points, the next 39 and so on down. The reason for the 50 points is that there are about 40 clubs in Div 4 and as new clubs get affiliated they will go into Div 4. The league log is then based on the total number of league points each club has accumulated.
  • In each of the three (3) leagues, no points will be scored if a club does not participate.
  • At the end of the league season the top two (2) clubs of Divisons 2, 3 and 4 will be promoted to Divisions 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
  • The bottom 2 clubs in Divisions 1, 2 and 3 will at the same time be relegated to Divisions 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
  • In the case of a tie in the number of league points for any one of the above scenarios, then the total handicap points will be used to decide which clubs will go up or down as the case may be.

Agn Race Walking League Format - 2010

How the Agn race walking league works:         (revised Jan 2013)
  • Only Agn registered athletes qualify for league points.
  • The league is based on the points scored per club.
  • In multi-distance races, the number of athletes and points are combined.
  • A maximum number of 10 athletes per club is used for points calculation.
  • Clubs that have more than 10 athletes that finish a race will default to 2 or more teams with the highest 10 points scored being allocated to the ‘1st’ team and the next 10 or less points scored being allocated to the ‘2nd’ team.
  • The athletes whose points make up the top 10 points in one league race will not necessarily be the same 10 athletes in the next walking league race.
  • For example club “A” has 8 finishers and 40pts (8, 7, 7, 5, 5, 3, 3, 2) in the 10km and 4 finishers and 21pts (9, 6, 3, 3) in the 21km. The total number of athletes is 12 and the total number of points is 61. The top 10 points will be allocated to the ‘1st’ team. In this example 9, 8, 7, 7, 6, 5, 5, 3, 3 and 3 giving a total of 56 points. The ‘2nd’ team will then be allocated 5 points.
  • The league points table is available upon request. This table allocates points to each athlete who finishes a race. The number of points is dependent on gender, age category, distance and finishing time. A minimum of 1 point is allocated to everyone whose name is on the official set of results.
  • Clubs organising a race walking league race are requested to allow their walkers to participate in the league race itself as the judges will not be on duty at the helpers race.
  • As at the end of the 2013 league season the walking league will be divided up into 3 divisions based on the finishing positions at the end of the 2013 league races. From 2014 onwards there will therefore be a Div 1 and a Div 2 each of which will have 20 clubs in them and Div 3 will have the remainder.
  • Once the total points have been calculated for each club, a sort is done, listing the clubs from most to least number of points. In Div 1 and Div 2 the clubs with the most points will then each be allocated 20 league points, the next 19 points and so on down. In Div 3 the club with the most points will be allocated 40 points, the next 39 and so on down. The reason for the 40 points is that there are about 25 clubs in Div 3 and as new clubs get affiliated they will go into Div 3. The league log is then based on the total number of league points each club has accumulated.
  • In each of the three (3) divisions, no points will be scored if a club does not participate.
  • At the end of the league season the top 2 clubs of Div 2 and Div 3 will be promoted to Div 1 and Div 2 respectively.
  • The bottom 2 clubs in Div 1 and Div 2 will at the same time be relegated to Div 2 and Div 3 respectively.
  • In the case of a tie in the number of league points for any one of the above scenarios, the total points accrued over the year will be used to decide which clubs will go up or down as the case may be.

Agn Road Running Super League Format

How the Agn road running super league works:
  • The participation league races will always be used for the purposes of determining the super league
  • There are separate leagues for the male and female athletes.
  • Only Agn registered athletes qualify for super league points.
  • Super league points are restricted to the first 50 Agn male and the first 25 Agn female finishers
  • Points are awarded as follows for each distance run (10km / 21km etc):
         o    Male: 1st – 50 pts,  2nd – 49pts,  3rd – 48pts and so on down to 1pt for the 50th Agn male athlete to finish.
         o    Female: 1st – 25pts,  2nd – 24pts,  3rd – 23pts and so on down to 1pt for the 25th Agn female athlete to finish
  • The combined male points per club for all the race distances is determined. The male club with the highest number of points, gets 50 super league points with the next getting 49pts, and so on down. The same formula applies to the female super league, 50pts for the highest number of super league points and so on down.
